DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, November 17\, Berkeley’s hidden gem of an acoustic instrument shop\,Timbre Folk and Baroque\, will present an intimate house concert featuring solo and duo performances by acoustic guitar masters Flynn Cohen and Teja Gerken. \nBased in Vermont\, acoustic guitar and mandolin player Flynn Cohen has performed all over the world with many notable acts in traditional and contemporary acoustic music. He can be seen in concert with the American folk band Low Lily (formerly known as Annalivia)\, and legendary Irish accordion player John Whelan\, as well as duo shows playing music from his four solo albums. A former guitar student of John Renbourn\, Davy Graham\, Scott Nygaard\, and Paul Binkley. \n“A versatile string virtuoso” – Dirty Linen Magazine \n“Ace guitarist” – Boston Globe \n“Gorgeous acoustic guitar work” – Americana UK \nThe Bay Area’s own Teja Gerken has enchanted audiences ever since coming onto the acoustic fingerstyle scene in the late 1990s. Initially influenced by guitarists such as John Renbourn\, Michael Hedges\, and Leo Kottke\, Teja ultimately began weaving together his diverse musical interest into a style that is his own\, releasing his debut album On My Way in 1999. In the two decades since\, Teja has fine-tuned his sets to include original compositions\, Celtic traditionals\, classical pieces\, jazz standards\, and some favorite tunes by his fingerstyle guitar peers\, several of which are included on 2005’s Postcards.
