One of the most important aspects of an instrument store is repairs. I have repaired a wide variety of instruments including, violins, guitars, mandolins, ukuleles and more unusual instruments such as balalaikas, bagpipes and ouds. In addition to repairs, I build moraharpas and instruments in the mandolin family.

Lessons are another important aspect of this shop. We endeavor to make music accessible to anyone interested. I offer lessons for beginning and intermediate guitar, violin and ukulele as well as all levels of mandolin and nyckelharpa. Our friend, and amazing guitarist Pete Madsen teaches all levels of guitar in our shop.

I grew up in Wisconsin and bought my first fiddle from a friend there in 1980. I have been playing folk and baroque music ever since. I started by learning Irish and Old-time music. Now I mostly play Scandinavian music and sing in an acoustic trio called Muse Crossing. I learned woodworking from my father and have been building and repairing instruments for the past 35 years.

Opening this store has been my dream for many years and now, in 2017, I have finally taken the plunge. I hope you will come in and try the huge variety of acoustic folk, ethnic and baroque instruments. When was the last time you played a Kazakh Kobyz or Viola da Gamba? I love teaching music lessons, talking to people about music and instruments, and also encouraging new musical directions. I will take instruments on consignment and also love repairing instruments so get those treasures out of the closet and come on in!
